My white metallic grille air return was old, had some bent grilles in it and was boring looking. I decided to give this a try since I read that you don't really need the "grille" for air return on modern furnaces. I bought some of the picture hanger putty stuff that can be removed easily. I had to take this down and try over several times before I finally taped the 3 pieces together a bit. I also put peel & stick insulation around the grille hole in the wall to help stabilize and hide any edges from the wall that might be rough. I was able to use the cutouts for some of the screw holes that were already in the wall. I then used the putty stuff to help make it stick. It was kind of a pain, and then when I finally got it firmly on the wall, I noticed it was a bit crooked looking since the pieces are not exactly equal in size. I'll try to make it look prettier later, but here is the pic where you can see it is not quite level before it meets the baseboard. Overall, I do like it much better than the grille, and it looks more arty than grilley.
